V8 Supercars Drivers Visit Altima Birthplace

May 14 – Smyrna, Tennessee – As race car drivers Rick and Todd Kelly, along with Michael Caruso, are clearly interested in the automotive industry.

On their way to the V8 Supercar’s debut event in Austin, the trio called into Nissan’s manufacturing plant in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Smyrna is the largest car plant under one roof in the US and produces over 550,000 vehicles per year.

The star of Smyrna is the Altima – the same car used by Nissan in the V8 Supercars.

For Caruso, joining a factory Nissan Motorsport team is now even more real after seeing its U.S. operation including headquarters at Franklin.

The handling characteristics of the all-new Altimas have been a highlight and Caruso is looking forward to using that on the shorter version of the Circuit Of The Americas this weekend in Austin.

The Nissan team along with all others drivers and crews start preparations in Austin from tomorrow.
