Nissan brings its “Dream Classroom” to Yunnan

Nov. 13 – Zhaotong City, China – In late September, the opening ceremony of “Nissan Dream Classroom” was held at YaZiTang Primary School in Yunnan Province, another step in the recovery of the earthquake-ravaged region.

A massive tremor struck the region in August 2014, devastating Zhaotong City, and Nissan and other parties began contributing to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, as well as offering teaching equipment such as computers and electronic blackboards to support 19 elementary schools in their resumption of education activities.

Students learn about automobiles and environmental protection

“Nissan Dream Classroom” was introduced to boost such a revival, and by August 2015, some 4,000 pupils had taken part, learning about automobiles and environmental protection, as well as the importance of teamwork.

Students received a school bag with reflective straps for a safer journey to and from school

This is a continuation of Nissan’s efforts to aid earthquake-struck regions in the mainland, Nissan previously introduced “Nissan Dream Classroom” to another recovery project in the Sichuan region.

Takashi Nishibayashi, president of Nissan (China) Investment Co., attended the school’s opening ceremony, announcing kick-off of the “Nissan Dream Classroom” tour in Yunnan Province, and reinforcing the car maker’s commitment to recovery.
